At the Academy of North Palm Beach, we foster an environment that encourages emergent learning. Building upon the interests of children, our teachers facilitate the learning of the students by encouraging them to take an active part in constructing their ideas and knowledge. Our educational philosophy is founded on the idea that critical thinking skills are gained through play, constructing, imagining, experimenting, and dialogue with others; best-preparing children for a life-long love of learning.

Our philosophy focuses on the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of our students by fostering an environment that provides ongoing opportunities for age-appropriate play and activity.

Emotionally

Emotional development is the emergence of a child’s experience, expression, understanding, and regulation of emotions from birth through late adolescence. A significant part of psychological development in children and adolescents is how children recognize, label, and control the expression of their emotions in ways that generally are consistent with cultural expectations. At the Academy of North Palm Beach, we model and encourage an environment for students to discover their inner emotions, best convey their feelings, and appropriately react to situations.

Socially

Social and emotional development are strongly linked and sometimes studied or reported in tandem. Parents and other caregivers play an important role in social and emotional development. Social development is a core element in your child’s overall academic proficiency. It is vital that your child is immersed in a diverse environment that encourages children’s social skills to flourish through ongoing interaction and the introduction to higher-level vocabulary. At the Academy of North Palm Beach, our entire program is founded around the significance of social and emotional development.

Academically

As the education system has evolved, so has the field of early childhood education. The Academy of North Palm Beach utilizes the Creative Curriculum to guide the delivery of our instruction. The Creative Curriculum is a research-based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning. The use of this curriculum aids teachers in creating a high-quality learning environment and builds a thorough understanding of best practices. Each month, week, and day are planned in advance to allow for maximized learning that is aligned with the developmental scope and sequence. However, our educators also encourage a learning environment that is led by the student’s interests and current events. This adaptability allows for students to remain engaged throughout the learning process to ensure they build and maintain a life-long love for learning.

Physically

We can certainly all agree that when we physically feel good, we are at our peak performance. This is of course, true for children as well. However, in addition to just feeling good, children are in the developmental stage in life that they are developing their motor skills. Physical activity is what allows children to develop their gross and excellent motor skills; which are both vital components of academic proficiency. Our educators plan fun and developmentally appropriate activities that will enable students to build and develop these skills.

The Creative Curriculum

At the Academy of North Palm Beach, we follow the Florida State Standards for Twos through Pre-K/VPK, and we use “Creative Curriculum (GOLD)” to present and implement these standards. Our curriculum is hands-on and designed to be a la carte to support and enhance the individuality of each student. Our exploratory learning centers are planned each week with pre-established learning goals, and objectives focused on teaching through play.

At the Academy of North Palm Beach, our elementary program offers an engaging curriculum that integrates the Arts and Technology in Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Writing. We incorporate Project-Based Learning in our classrooms.

Outdoor Learning Environment

Academy of North Palm Beach is bright, spacious and well-equipped with age-appropriate toys, supplies, and equipment. The outside play area is also gorgeous and has tons of space to run, ride bikes, and play.

Developing the Whole Child

Educational Philosophy

We have a rich and stimulating preschool program based on a philosophy of “learning through play.” The focus is on the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of the children, achieved through age-appropriate play and activity.

Parent Participation

Parents of the Academy of North Palm Beach have the opportunity to participate in their child preschool experience helping in the classroom usually once or twice a month, which we believe is a great way to learn from our Early Childhood Educators and to observe students in a social setting.

Early Friendships

Students at the Academy of North Palm Beach are encouraged to develop nurturing and enduring friendships through carefully planned hands-on activities designed to foster social and emotional development.

Our Unique Voluntary Prekindergarten Program

What is VPK?

VPK- is a free Pre-Kindergarten program for 4-year-olds who reside in Florida and were born on or before September 1st each year.

VPK gives each child an opportunity to perform better in school and throughout life with quality programs that include age-appropriate curricula with a strong emphasis on early literacy skills, accountability, manageable class sizes, and qualified instructors. Our unique VPK program is led by certified teachers and run under a private Elementary School. We focus on providing hands-on learning with an a la carte curriculum to support and enhance the individuality of each student.
